Candy Striper

Sadly, the long weekend is over. Back to work! I'm just happy it's a shorter week. I'm already thinking about what I'm going to do next weekend. Anyone want to join me at the beach?
When I saw this top at Savers, I immediately thought of a candy cane. It was too big on me, but I liked the print so much...so I bought it anyway. :) Besides my shoes, this entire outfit was thrifted. I love that! And for a little pop of a third color, I added my sea foam green earrings to match my nail polish.

I'll buy any skirt that has pockets!
I hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday weekend!

Everyone needs heart-shaped glasses!

I absolutely love 3 day weekends...especially in southern California. I couldn't have asked for a prettier
Memorial Day. I have the sunburn to prove it!
I am so happy rompers are in style. They are comfy, sexy and so versatile! I bought this romper from Target a year ago. It has endless possibilities! Dress it up, dress it down...it's always cute. To top off my summer look, I added my pink heart-shaped sunglasses. So adorable! Go out and get yourself a pair. I promise...
you'll immediately feel happy. :)
Happy Memorial Day!!!

Dinner and Carrot Cake

I was having a conversation with a friend earlier today. He asked me how my night was last night. I said I had to work last night and then asked him how his night was. He said,
"I meant to work, but instead ended up cooking a long dinner and then getting carrot cake."
My response?
"Sometimes dinner and carrot cake are more important."
I'm glad we had that little conversation because I TRY to remember life isn't about working and paying bills. Those things are important, but they don't truly matter.
My friend may have an extra long work day today, but he had a great dinner and dessert with his wife and she had a yummy
carrot cake breakfast this morning. And really, what else matters?
That's my life lesson for you today. You're welcome! :)

My outfit today was a no-brainer...but honestly...
I just wanted to wear these earrings.
I. LOVE. THEM.

Ring: Pier One (Gifted)
Earrings: Tilly's
I was so caught up in the fun of my blog pictures, I made myself REALLY late for work. Ummm...well....I guess I was enjoying my "dinner and carrot cake"?

All better! :)

Finally feeling better! Yay! I'm not 100% yet but I had a great night's sleep and I'm ready to go back to work... physically.
Mentally? I'm at the beach.
Today's outfit was all about comfort. If I could live in sundresses, I would. In fact...I think I might. Sundresses are great because you instantly look dressed up and they are so comfy! Add a button up shirt to it and you have yourself an even dressier look that you can still pair with flip flops!
See ya'll tomorrow!

Short and Sweet

I have been completely out of my routine due to the two days I have been home sick. Booo! I hate being sick! But...today...I started to feel better in the late afternoon and had new found energy to come up with a blog-worthy outfit!
But, I have to admit...I wasn't up for a long photo shoot. Plus...the sun was beating down on my patio, so it was too bright for outdoor pics and I was already starting to sweat. That said, I snapped a few pics in my living room and called it a day.
I'll put forth far more effort tomorrow.
I PROMISE!

I like today's outfit. I tend to like my outfits more when most of my pieces are thrifted. I almost feel like a proud parent when I see discarded clothes graduate into sassy ensembles!
*tear rolling down cheek*
Let's hope for a good night's sleep where images of cute outfits dance in my head. :)

"Meow"

First of all, I must apologize for my very late post. I'll be honest, this wasn't today's outfit. In fact, I was home sick today, so let's just agree that no one wants to read about
what I actually wore today, k?
Luckily, I had an awesome weekend and
I have THAT to blog about!
This weekend, we celebrated my friend Jenny's birthday (the same Jenny who makes the amazing jewelry!) The plan was a bunch of us were going to spend the day at Magic Mountain and then wrap up the day with a few cocktails at a nearby restaurant.
Jenny is who we lovingly refer to as our "crazy cat lady." I want to make this clear. She is not ACTUALLY a crazy cat lady. She just really loves cats....a lot.....like a lot a lot. :)
My friends and I decided it would be fantastic to make cat t-shirts for each of us to wear to the park on Saturday. I mean...who doesn't LOVE that idea??? Friday night, I threw on my favorite only cat t-shirt and headed on over to my friend Necole's house for a fun-filled night of photo editing and iron-on t-shirt designs!
Let me explain this shirt. This was a Rite Aid purchase..simply because it's hilarious, it's creepy, it's weird, it's absurd and it was only $2.99.
I had to buy it!!!!

We got to work downloading funny cat pictures online and then editing them. Here's me in action!
This was Jenny's design. The birthday girl got a special message on her shirt that I was pretty excited about.

It was a LONG night of editing...so the next morning, I grabbed some Starbucks and piled into my friend's car to make the drive to Magic Mountain.

The park was fun and everyone really loved their t-shirts. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of every single one.
(There were 12 of them!)
Here are a few of the party-goers.

I did get a picture of my shirt. Are you ready????

I love this cat. She's fancy.

I didn't get any pictures at the actual park. If you've been there, you'll understand why I decided to keep my camera in my purse at all times.

I did, however, get some pictures of the shenanigans at the local T.G.I.Friday's.
So weird...I went to the bathroom and when I came back, this picture was the new background on my phone. Funny how these things "happen." ;)
One Republic has nothing on Will and I.
The birthday girl rockin' her sweet tee!

Happy birthday, Jenny! It was an adventure, as always!!!!

Soooo Cinchy!

Haha..remember that word?
If you don't, then you are way younger than I am or way cooler.
Either way, I'll use it in a sentence for you. "Dawnya, I like your outfit. How did you come up with it?" "Oh, I'll tell you. It's SO cinchy!" See? Get it? Great word, right? My friends and I rocked that word all throughout 6th grade.
Today's outfit was super cinchy. I thrifted this Ann Taylor Loft top and hadn't worn it yet. It's actually sleeveless, but it's still a bit too chilly to wear it alone. I added a belt and a hot pink cardigan. All set for Friday!

I am in for a really fun weekend and I can't WAIT to blog about Saturday's outfit! Stay tuned!

Mary Tyler Moore

When I saw that I was in for more rain, I knew it was the perfect day to wear my trench coat. Savers was having a 50% off sale for all of their winter coats and sweaters a couple months ago. I found this adorable coat for $7.00! I was excited about my purchase, but kinda sad because the weather was warming up and I didn't think I'd be able to wear it until next year. I was wrong! Yay!
I feel like an updated Mary Tyler Moore...cute hat and all. :) However, I'm going to pass on the adorable hat toss moment.
In real life, that hat would hit the ground because I can't catch.
No thanks. :)

I was a trooper this morning when I did my photo shoot. It was starting to rain and I risked the life of my camera, my clothes and my hair to get these photos done!

 Off to work! Happy Wednesday!
