Mommy...

 Today is my Mommy's birthday.
Yes, I still call her "Mommy" at 31 years old  as an adult. :)
For as long as I can remember, my Mother has been graceful, cordial, loving, selfless, considerate, creative and simply adorable. She's the mom who wore a Christmas apron on Christmas morning, threw the best themed birthday parties, sewed  the most creative costumes, never missed a school function, always had us eat dinner as a family....I could go on and on. Above all, she was and still is the best mother anyone could ask for. So much of who I am is a product of having a wonderful mother.
As I get older, I see just HOW much I'm like her.

For example...this is my Mom making her first gluten-free pizza
for my sister.

Aaaand...here's me debuting how to make Oreo Truffles...

I still LOVE Disneyland (and the teacups).
I'm still in love with the ocean.

Even though we're not living in the same state, I have things around me that always remind me of her.
I still keep this in my room. It was hanging in my nursery when I was born and I think it's too cute to pack away.
Another little tchotchke from when I was a baby. My Mom LOVES this little bear.
She's always doing cute things to let me know she's thinking about me or to make my day brighter.
Case in point....my birthday glasses she sent me for my birthday last year.

There is so much more I could say about the best mom in the world, but it would take a million blog entries.

Happy birthday, Mommy. I'm sorry I can't be there with you on your special day but I hope you know just how much I appreciate you! Every day I try to be more and more like you
and I hope that I make you proud of me.
I love you so very much.

I'll see you soon!
P.S. May I please request a Christmas apron
for my next birthday???

  1. I agree, your mother is an amazing woman. I worked with her at Allegiant in 2008 and we are still in touch. She is a very sweet lady and you are a lucky girl! That apron sounds like a fun idea, I would love for my children to have that memory of me!

  4. Love, Love, Love this post! AND I had the same name plate (obviously with my name). I have never seen another one like it. I have it hanging in my utility room - doesn't really work to hang in my master bedroom. :)
