I never realized how un-inspired I feel without my camera. And it shows with today's outfit. Don't get me wrong...I think it's cute. I love this top and could probably pair it with a hundred different things. But today was a "just look cute and get out the door" kind of a day. My attempt at a "3rd color" is the teensy bit of pink on my shoes. Haha....can't win 'em all! That said, I REALLY hope I can take care of this camera situation today. HOPEfully this is my last day like this!!!

"Dawnya" = "Cute Heels" in Russian ;)
I was playing around with Google trying to see if my blog came up when I searched my name.
I found something BETTER!!!!
THIS little cutie is called "Dawnya" and can be purchased from Baker's !!!
I'm happy about 3 things:
A. "I" come in leopard and olive green.
B. Someone gave "me" 4 stars.
C. 53 people "like" me.
Vintage Silk
As I mentioned in a previous blog, my Grandma gave me a bunch of things she doesn't wear anymore. One of the things she asked me if I wanted was this scarf. It's GORGEOUS! And after looking at the tag, I realized..this wasn't just any scarf. It's 100% silk and it's Oscar de la Renta! "Ummm, Grandma, are you SURE you want to give this to me?" She said she has never used it and insisted I take it. She said she's had it since the 1960's! I couldn't WAIT to wear it! I put this top I bought at Anthro a few years ago with this skirt I thrifted. I felt like I needed a necklace or something. Then I thought, "Wait...I'll turn my new scarf into a necklace!" Then I just added a belt, heels and earrings and I was out the door! Of course, due to my camera being out of commission, I had to use my phone for my pictures. I apologize in advance.
Thank you SO much, Grandma! Not only do I love the scarf, but I love that I'm wearing little pieces from your past! I love you! :)

Let me tell ya about MY day so far...
It started out like a normal Wednesday morning. I woke up (didn't go to the gym because I was up too late playing on the internet), took a shower, got dressed and started taking my photos outside. So far, nothing unusual. Here is what I put on today:
Shortly after this picture was taken, my camera fell off the fence and plummeted to it's death! I was running late for work, so I scrambled to get into the car.
Here is me driving to work (the rest of my pictures in this post were taken with my not-so-fancy phone):
I got to work and I was very sad. I set my camera on my desk and stared at it. It keeps clicking and beeping and saying "lens error" and it won't move out of this position:
SUDDENLY! I hear one of the teachers calling me from another classroom. I walk in and a group of children start singing (in the tune of "Happy Birthday") "Happy Dawnya Day to yoooou...Happy Dawnya Day to yoooou..."! AND...they made this sign for me!
I've said it before and I'll say it again.
EVERYONE should work at a preschool!!!
In the meantime, my blog might be on hold for a couple days.
I'll figure something out! :)

"I love smiling! Smiling's my favorite!"
I love days like this when I wake up and say to myself, "Yes...THIS is why I live in California!" It's impossible to be sad on a day like this! :)
I wanted to dress bright and cheery like the weather so I threw this together at the last minute this morning. I think it's delightful! Hope you do too. ;)

Hope your weather is as fabulous as mine is!
(But it probably isn't.) ;)

An Easter Miracle!
Yep..that's right...a MIRACLE! My back patio is free of weeds and scary bugs!!! How did this happen, you ask? It happened thanks to my awesome roommate and her awesome boyfriend who spent their Easter weekend sprucing up the patio! We even have HERBS now! So fancy. :) It looks great and I couldn't wait to take pictures back there. In honor of my patio, I decided to dress up like a garden- earth tones with splashes of bright blue and this new green sweater that was gifted to me by my sister. (My favorite words out of her mouth--"Dawnya, see if this fits you.")
My Easter weekend had it's ups and downs, but overall it was nice to spend some quality time with friends and family...and it was so great to come home to a pretty patio! :)

"Over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house we go..."
While I was in Vegas, I went over to my Grandma's house for a little visit. To my sheer delight, she asked me if I would be interested in going through some jewelry that she never wears. WOULD I?!?!?! I couldn't WAIT to see what was in store for me.
Not only was it fun to see what she had, but I loved the stories and the history behind each piece.
I'll definitely be featuring them in future blogs.
This necklace and matching earrings are my first featured pieces. I love the chunky jewels and the gold chain. I decided to go simple with the outfit so that my jewelry would be the star of the show! :)
Thank you, Grandma! I had a lot of fun!!!

Dirty Martinis in the Desert
I'm in Las Vegas for the weekend visiting family and friends. The weather is GORGEOUS this time of year. It's the few weeks where it's not hot and it's not cold. It's sunny with a slight breeze with temperatures hovering in the mid 70's. It's the best! My plan for my Friday night was to meet up with one of my closest friends for martinis on the patio at a bar called "Blue Martini." I decided to remix my awesome gingham cropped pants and go for an updated 80's rocker look.
I love this outfit and had such a fun night out!
I was excited about the pretty flowers in my sister's backyard, so I HAD to take a picture with them. :) |
I do love sunny California, but a piece of my heart will always belong to Vegas. :) |
